Welcome

This FHYS yoga certification program is designed for those who want to teach with deep knowledge and confidence, as well as those seeking an in-depth, non-teaching exploration of all eight limbs of yoga philosophy and practices rooted in ancient Hindu traditions.

Our unified 200-hour core program features open rolling enrollment throughout the year, with a maximum of 4 active students for personalized attention. We replace rigid weekend/week-long intensives with flexible scheduling using our existing studio offerings—allowing completion in an estimated 9 months (minimum aligned with monthly workshops) up to 2 years maximum. Students progress at their own pace, fulfilling requirements through dedicated training blocks until earning their FHYS diploma (or optional YA RYT-200 credential).

You can also do individual weekends as an immersion or for teachers who need continuing education credit.

Please send Marcee an email at  yogagypsee@comcast.net or call at 719-568-0416 if you are interested.

Frequently Asked Questions

How proficient in yoga do I have to be to be accepted?

You becoming a great yoga teacher is independent of your ability to do the strongest and hardest yoga poses.

You don't want to be a yoga teacher but want a deep dive into your yoga practice?

You may be at a certain point in your yoga practice and feeling a desire to go deeper.  I’ve had many students who don’t want to teach but they want more of yoga’s subtle science, which has brought more harmony to their body, mind and spirit.

You can do this training as an immersion at a reduced rate!

How do I apply?

Simple – you need to fill out an application and pay the non-refundable application fee of $25.  Notify Marcee and she will send you an application to complete.

If accepted, this $25 application fee will be applied to your balance.

Next, you will receive an email from our teacher training instructor, Marcee Ballantyne, and she will answer any further questions you might have and welcome you into the program. A $300 deposit will be due at that time to hold your spot. If the program is filled, your place on the wait list can be held for a $100 deposit once pre-qualified.

What is the makeup policy?

Workshops and immersions repeat each year. If you miss a required component for your certification you can still finish the requirements within the 2 year max period.

You don't want to be a yoga teacher but want a deep dive into your yoga practice?

Many students join for the subtle science of yoga and greater harmony in body, mind, and spirit, without any teaching intent. While future teachers can find what they need to prepare for their Yoga career, the FHYS Cert. is designed to deepen ones Yoga practice and self knowledge without requiring teaching.

Whats the difference between FHYS Certification and optional Yoga Alliance RYT-200 Pathway

The core program is identical for both, except:

  • FHYS Certification only: Equity training, full practicum (10 hours instruction classes with real students), and Business of Yoga workshop are optional (substitute with extra instruction class attendance).
  • Optional YA RYT-200 Pathway: Requires mandatory 2-hour online equity training (diversity, inclusion, accessibility, cultural sensitivity, anti-appropriation); mandatory 10-hour practicum (teaching real classes with feedback/assessments); and Business of Yoga workshop. This meets Yoga Alliance standards for RYS 200 eligibility (school registration pending/finalized).

You will receive your diploma validating your training at the 200-hour level and certification with Fountain of Health Yoga Studio. You will then be qualified to register with Yoga Alliance.

What does Yoga Alliance’s approval of this teacher training mean?

Yoga Alliance is a highly recognized organization that was started in 1999 as a way to create nationally recognized standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher training in the US. Most yoga studios across the country require their teachers to be registered with Yoga Alliance. But know that Yoga Alliance registration is not a legal requirement for teaching yoga. Currently, there are no legal certification requirements to be a yoga teacher.

How much does it cost?

If completed in 9 months the base cost is $2000 (before books/materials). Each additional quarter adds $225 in membership fees before a maximum of 2 years.
